Restarting the blog

So, after 7 years of inactivity, I’ve decided to try this blogging thing again. You, dear reader, may be surprised - why in the age of AI, when half of the content on the internet is generated by some silly LLMs, would anyone start the blog again? And exactly this is the reason - in the age of slop, I want to create something authentic, something personal, and something that people can find interesting. Or they won’t - and frankly I do not care too much. I’m not doing this for clicks, likes, or whatever virtual currency people find valuable nowadays. On the contrary, one of the “inspirations” to restart the blog is precisely the influencer culture I see in the tech social media nowadays.

What will be different?

Great question! I guess the most significant difference for my old audience is the fact it will no longer be a blog about F#. While I still do love the language, and I’m calling many people I’ve met thanks to it my friends… I haven’t been using it professionally for the last 6 years. And my involvement with the F# OSS community has been minimal.

And well, that brings us to the elephant in the room - for the last couple of years I’ve been involved with building AI tools for software developers - from the tool that started this whole LLM revolution - OG GitHub Copilot, to doing voice control for IDE when no one believed that developers would want to talk to their machines, inventing Spec-Driven Development a few years before it became the latest AI Twitter hype point, to creating a tool for running automated AI workflows on GH to building a multiplayer, real-time collaborative, AI-first platform on top of GitHub.

All this to say that I’ve been in a fairly unique position of building (and watching from behind the scenes other people build) tools that have changed software development. So… I do have a few thoughts and hot takes about all this. (I know, absolutely shocking news for people knowing me from my F# days. Hot takes and me. Who would have thought? ;-) )

Oh, and one more thing that should be different - I will be trying to stick to a semiregular schedule. I promise! Well, at least it should be more regular than a 7-year break.

What stays the same?

First, as with any content I’ve produced - social media, public talks, and any writing I’ve done - this is my personal content. It does not represent my employer in any way. Those will always be my opinions, and I’m the only person editing those posts. If you’re interested in my work-related content, check out the GitHub Next webpage

Secondly, as always, this will be rather unfiltered content - I’m not a person that will carefully analyze every word in the post to make sure it’s perfect. Sometimes I will write some notes on the spot and post them. Sometimes I’ll spend more time on a longer post - but I’m not a writer at heart. It takes far too much effort for me to write even posts like this.

And uhh… I guess my broken English and grammar mistakes? I’m fairly sure it will stay the same.

Let’s go on an adventure.

I hope this will be a fun adventure. Maybe we will learn something together; perhaps we will find starting points for discussions. We might not agree with each other. Or possibly no one will read this. Any outcome is fine as long as it’s even a little fun. So see you next time!
